 WHY THE STRAIGHT END LONGBOW?

In the modern high-tech world this question often arises. The longbow is as much the bow of choice today as it was 1000’s of years ago. There is no bow which can match it for maneuverability, forgiveness and reliability. The combination of narrow, thick limbs means the limbs will pull the string back into alignment quickly – even on a less than perfect release. So a poor release is not as punished as with other designs. The length of the limbs act as a stabilizer on follow through and the weight ratio of limbs to riser also add to follow through forgiveness. Also, it can throw a very heavy arrow with ease which aids penetration on hunting shots. This happens due to long working limbs which, when tillered correctly, operate a bit like a shot-putter making a very large action to throw a heavy shot.
